Project Description
The goal was to design a limited-edition festive packaging for Diwali that reflects the spirit of celebration, rooted in Indian tradition, while staying aligned with the brand’s youthful, natural, and clean image. The packaging was to serve both as a gifting product and a visual storytelling medium.
The brief was to create a Diwali-themed gift box, Sanskriti, aimed to capture the royal essence and joy of Lord Ram’s homecoming. The scene illustrating Lord Ram, Sita Ji, and Laxman Ji returning to Ayodhya, surrounded by festive celebrations.
Eat Better Co. is a health-focused food brand that blends traditional Indian ingredients with modern nutrition. Known for their wholesome snack products like laddoos and bars, they promote guilt-free indulgence with a strong emphasis on natural ingredients.
Objectives:
Create an Illustration-led Packaging Design for Diwali gift hampers.
Maintain brand consistency while incorporating festive vibrancy.
Appeal to urban Indian families looking for premium, health-oriented gifts.
Design something Instagrammable, ideal for digital promotions and user-generated content.
Initial Illustration Ideation & Designs
What started with a simple brief of illustrating a Lord Ram returning scene turned into a super ambitious, detailed and experimental project. We wanted to incorporate an extremely detailed illustration. To start off, we compiled hundreds of references from different Ramayan movies, paintings and from many mythological films to make our mood-board. Once we were clear with what we need to illustrate, we moved on to making sketches.
Option 1: Illustration depicting the returning of trio in pushpak viman with people celebrating and wecoming them.
Option 2: Illustration depicting the returning of trio with palace behind them depicting Ayodhya along with diyas and firecrackers.
Option 3: Illustration depicting the returning of trio with digital painting in mughal art style.
Option 4: Illustration depicting the returning of trio in a chariot along with palace behind depicting Ayodhya and with some festive vibes with digital painting in mughal art style.
